How Can I Incorporate Surah Duha into My Daily Life

Surah Duha has 94 verses and it is the 93rd sura of the Qur’an. The title “Duha” means “after sunrise” or “the forenoon”. This sura was revealed in Medina after the Migration to Medina.

It is a Madani surah. This Surah takes its name from v. 3, wherein occurs the word duha (forenoon). It is generally agreed that this Surah was revealed soon after Al-Isra’, though some hold that it was sent down during the early part of the Prophet’s residence at Madinah, while others maintain that it belongs to a later period.

The first view appears to be more correct inasmuch as Sayyidina ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud has related that this Surah used to be recited by Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) every morning (Bukhari, Muslim). According to another tradition, whenever Gabriel used to come to Allah’s Messenger (PBUH), he would recite this Surah before him (Tirmidhi). According to yet another report, on one occasion when Gabriel came and found Allah’s Messenger lying down on his back due illness, he recited this very Surah and then went away saying nothing more than: “O Muhammad! Live in fear of Allah!”

Thereupon Allah’s Messenger called out aloud: “Gabriel has just now visited me with a message from my Lord which so much pleased me that I cannot express my joy fully.” Ibn Kathir adds: This Hadith establishes beyond doubt that whoever desires complete guidance must pay special attention to those things which please his Master most; for no matter how excellent an act may be in itself, unless it meets with His Good Pleasure, its reward will remain incomplete.
