What is the Lesson of Surah Fil?

In the Quran, surah Fil is classified as a Meccan surah. It consists of 105 verses and was revealed to Prophet Muhammad during his early years of prophethood. The main theme of this surah is the oneness of God and His power over all things. The title of this surah, “Fil” means elephant in Arabic. This is derived from the story mentioned in verse 1-5, where an army from Abyssinia (modern day Ethiopia) had come to attack Mecca. They were stopped by a sudden rainstorm which caused flooding and their elephants to get stuck in the mud. This event is known as the Battle of Elephant. This story has been used as a lesson for believers throughout history. Even though the pagans had superior numbers and weapons, they were ultimately defeated because they went against the will of God. This shows that no matter how powerful someone may seem, they are powerless if they are not following Allah’s commands. Surah Fil also contains important lessons about patience and perseverance. In verses 6-19, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is told to be patient in times of hardship and to never lose hope in Allah’s Mercy. No matter how difficult life gets, we must always remember that Allah is with us and He will never abandon us. In conclusion, Surah Fil teaches us many important lessons about life and our relationship with Allah SWT. We must always remember that He is the Most Powerful and nothing can happen without His Will. We should also remain patient through tough times and have faith that everything happens for a reason according to His plan.

Conclusion

The surah is named after its subject matter, the story of the elephant. It tells of how an army sent by Abraha, the ruler of Yemen, to destroy the Kaaba in Mecca was miraculously defeated by Allah sending an army of birds carrying pebbles which destroyed them. The surah goes on to warn against shirk (the associating of partners with Allah) and emphasizes that Allah is the only One worthy of worship.
