Fifa World Cup 2022 Schedule PDF

The FIFA World Cup is an international football tournament held every four years. The 2022 FIFA World Cup is set to be the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international men‘s football championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It is scheduled to take place in Qatar in November and December 2022. This will be the first World Cup ever to be held in the Arab world and the first in a Muslimmajority country. The tournament will be the second to be held entirely in Asia after the 2002 tournament in South Korea and Japan.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will feature 32 teams, an increase from the current format of 31 teams. The tournament is to be played across eight venues, with each venue hosting a minimum of four matches. Qatar is set to host the final at the Lusail Iconic Stadium, which is currently under construction. The format of the tournament will be similar to that of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, with the number of teams divided into eight groups of four. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage, which will be played out over a period of three weeks.

In 2015, FIFA‘s executive committee awarded the hosting rights to Qatar over bids from Australia, Japan, the United States, and a joint bid from Belgium and the Netherlands. Qatar, a small country with a population of 2.7 million and a land area of 11,571 square kilometers (4,473 sq mi), will be the first west Asian nation to host the FIFA World Cup. The bidding procedure to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup started in 2019.

As of June 2019, the only confirmed stadiums for the World Cup are the Lusail Iconic Stadium and the Education City Stadium. Construction of Lusail Stadium is expected to be completed by 2020. Seven other stadiums are currently under construction: Al Bayt Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Al Wakrah Stadium, Al Rayyan Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Qatar Foundation Stadium, and Ras Abu Aboud Stadium.

The tournament is to be played in a reduced timeframe of 28 days, with the final being held on 18 December 2022, which is also Qatar National Day. This is in contrast to the typical 32day schedule for World Cups. The tournament will be held across eight venues in seven host cities.
