In the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, author Garcia Marquez uses magic realism as a tool to attract the reader. The writer tries to uses again the placement of Colombian culture in between 100 years which strongly influences the culture of the people living in the very mysterious village. One Hundred Years of Solitude is probably Marquez’s most iconic novel and tells the story of seven generations of the Buendia family and the city of Macondo they built. It mixes magical reality, fantasy, and comic discovery with political reality, and the first lesson is sure to surprise. It is a famous novel by Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez. It was first published in Buenos Aires in 1967. Sudamericana was in charge of editing. It was translated into 47 languages and sold over 50 million copies. The author later became known as Magnum Opus and was hailed as a significant work by the author in Canon and around the world. That is why it is called the Genesis of the next day. The main theme of this novel is that the Buendia family has flown like a waterfall through a hundred years of loneliness. Repeatedly coming back to enlighten human nature. First-generation:
Jose Arcadio Buendia and his wife Ursula Iguaran. They are the main Architect of this 7th generation. Another character is Melquiades and he was gypsy. The interesting matter is that Melquiades is included with all the seven generations of this story. After his death, he was again newly born and joins the Buendia family. Another character is Prudencia. Once for a reason, Jose Arcadio Buendia killed the Prudencia when they lived at Riohacha, before creating the Macondo town. Actually, Jose Arcadio Buendia and Ursula Iguaran were relatives as cousins. Ursula Iguaran believed that if she creates copulation with his husband that yielded a son with Pig’s tail. So they don’t meet any sexual relation. She wrote this future in written form in Sanskrit. Prudencia always criticizes and disturbs Jose Arcadio Buendia as he is a sexually disabled man and octopuses.
Second-generation:
Jose Arcadio Buendia and Ursula Iguaran have three Childs of 2 sons named Jose Arcadio first, Colonel Aureliano Buendia, and 1 daughter named Amaranta. They took the adoption of 1 daughter named Rebeca. In the second generation, we found another character of Pilar Tarneda who was an astrologer and fortune teller. Then the character is Melquiades. We mention as this character is involved in all the seventh generations. Another character is Pietro Crespi and he was an Italian pioneer. Then the character of Remedios Moscote who the wife of Colonel Aureliano Buendia.
Third generation:
In the third generation, we found Arcidio the Illegal child of Jose Arcadio Buendia and Pilar Tarneda. Another character is Aureliano Jose the illegal child of Colonel Aureliano Buendia and Pilar Tarneda. Another character is 17 Aurelianos the son of Colonel Aureliano Buendia. When Colonel Aureliano Buendia has gone to war he builds Invalid relationships with 17 women and yielded 17 Childs. Another character is Santa Sofia the wife of Arcadio.
Fourth generation:
The fourth-generation builds from Arcidio and Santa Sofia. As they are wife and husband they have three Childs. The big is the daughter and named Remodis the beauty. Then one son named Jose Arcadio Segundo and son Aureliano Segundo and they are twin brothers. The another character is Fernanda del Carpio the wife of Aureliano Segundo and the character of Petra Cotes the girl friend of Aureliano Segundo.
Fifth Generation:
The fifth generation build by Aureliano Segundo and Fernanda del Carpio as they are wife and husband. They yielded two daughters and one son. The first child was a daughter named Renata Remodis (Meme) then one son named Jose Arcadio 2 and another daughter Amaranta Ursula.
Sixth generation:
The sixth-generation builds from Renata Remodis (Meme) as she makes an Invalid relationship with an American and she bore a son named Aureliano 2nd or Aureliano Babilonia.
Seventh generation:
In the seventh generation, we found only one character of Aureliano’s third. He is an illegal child of Aureliano Babilonia and Amaranta Ursula. Actually Amaranta Ursula is the aunt of Aureliano Babilonia.
Summary of story
The main story started from the 2nd generation and the hero is Jose Arcadio Buendia. Because of an incident, it was memorized to the first generation. Jose Arcadio Buendia and Ursula Iguaran loved each other. But their family doesn’t agree with their love and they have to run away and got married. After marrying Ursula Iguaran there is a fear that a child born out of wedlock will have a pig’s tail. That is why she did not have intercourse with her husband. So they don’t take any sexual relation. And there are many days already pass they have no any child. By this time Prudencia always declares that Jose Arcadio Buendia is a sexually disabled man and he has no sex power. Jose Arcadio Buendia is very angry when he hears these insults. He once killed Jose Arcadio Buendia Prudencia while arguing. After his death, Prudencia became a ghost and threatened Jose Arcadio and Ursula Iguaran in various ways. The couple then lived in Riohacha. Then they move from there and started the journey to find a new place. Around two years they visited where and there. One night on their migration journey they make camping on the banks of a river. At night, Jose Arcadio dreams of the town of Macondo. And he saw the mirror of a city that reflects the earth and its surroundings. After waking up from sleep he decided to set up a Macondo Town on the river bank. Then he started to find such kind of place. After searching long time he found the place is very solitude. There are rainfall is available there. Jose Arcadio starts to live there. Then many people come to there to live and there born Jose Arcadio childs. Star the generation.
The time is passing very peacefully. There are many people who start to live in Macondo town. Every year in March there is a fair held on there. Many gypsies are attending this fair. Melquiades was also a gypsy and he was the leader of the gypsy. When he comes to Macondo he carries many new invented items, goods, information, and technologies, etc. Jose Arcadio the son of Ursula Iguaran was very interested in these new technologies. Once he runs away with the team of gypsies. His mother found him too much and after many days he returned home. A bit in this time there are civil wars started at Macondo. In this war, there are two parties one is the liberal party and another is the conservative party. Colonel Aureliano Buendia was the famous leader of the liberal party. During the war Colonel Aureliano Buendia creates illegal copulation with 17 women’s and they give birth of 17 children.
The story becomes to mystery, tragedy, romance, and finally the seventh generation Aureliano’s third again alone. The Macondo town becomes destroy by the wind. The place is again solitude.
